WORLD-BUILDING

Sound. Vision. Space.

Rare Treat's worldbuilding practice combines speculative storytelling, motion design, research and visual experimentation to create immersive visual worlds. Working across animation, 3D and spatial experience, she explores themes of cultural memory, diaspora, liberation and the unseen connections that shape our lives through maps, symbols, visual narratives and fictional systems. Rooted in the same impulse that drives her music, the work invites people to imagine alternative futures and step beyond the everyday.

001 — The Projection Room

This project explores how motion, projection and spatial design can be used to create immersive environments. Combining 3D visuals, animation and celestial imagery, I developed an audio-visual experience inspired by themes of alignment, multidimensionality and inner reflection.

Medium: After Effects, 3D

Status: Complete

002 — 3D Modelling

This project explores character design as a tool for worldbuilding. Using Blender, I developed a series of 3D forms that sit between the familiar and the otherworldly, experimenting with shape, texture and silhouette to create imagined beings that feel both strange and recognisable.

Medium: 3D, Blender

Status: Complete

003 — Multidimensional

This animation explores ideas of trasnconsciousness, pattern and interconnectedness through motion and repetition. Using geometric forms and looping compositions, I created a visual meditation on the ways awareness expands across physical, emotional and imagined dimensions.

Medium: Motion, After Effects

Status: Complete

004 — Colour Therapy

This series explores the emotional and atmospheric potential of colour in motion. Using gradients, light and continuous looping animation, I developed a collection of visualisers designed to encourage stillness, contemplation and sensory immersion.

Medium: Motion, After Effects, Photoshop

Status: Complete

005 — Ancestral Futures

This project explores how motion and set design can support live performance and cultural storytelling. Created for a multi-act showcase celebrating diasporic UK artists, the visuals combined contemporary motion graphics with references to African heritage, helping to shape an immersive experience that connected past, present and future.

Role: Motion Graphics, Set Design

Medium: Live Performance, Motion
